So the New Year has arrived and with many of us suffering from the winter blues, now Christmas is over we need something to look forward to! And what better way to achieve this than to plan some great days out. Now the kids are back at school and Christmas seems like a very long way off, it’s nice for the kids to have something to look forward to. A day out at Zoo or Wildlife Park will have them all getting excited, or even spending a day at the River Lee Country Park. Situated between Walkham Abbey in Essex and Broxbourne in Hertfordshire there is endless acres of countryside to explore. And with this mild winter we’re having so far, a day out walking and exploring could be perfect. The miles of pathways are great for walking but you also have the option of jumping on an electric boat, a pedalo or even a rowing boat!

Up and down the country there are thousands of stately homes equipped with vast, beautiful gardens for you to explore. Essex alone is rich with them – from Audley End House and Gardens, Green Island Gardens and Hylands House and Estate. Why not round up your local club or W.I group, book a coach and head of for a day of wandering around the beautiful gardens – not forgetting treating yourselves to afternoon tea!
